Gyaan time!

Work, fun, food - the past few weeks have been hectic! With due apologies to my blog, here's a small post on how Microsoft changed the way I look at things. The top ten things I learnt in two months:

1. Never, ever, ever underestimate yourself. Over estimates are bad too, from what I've seen. Gist is, people see you the way you see yourself.
2. Be who you are. People will look through you whatever you do, so why act?
3. Make sure everything you do has a reason, however stupid it may be. You should be able to answer questions about your own life and why it is the way it is.
4. Never hesitate to learn from others! You will actually remember it forever.
5. Educated guesses are good. Wild guesses are not.
6. College is absolutely different from a work place. You will probably not learn so much in such a short time in college.
7. Don't give up on your passion, ever. Make time for it, even if it is just an hour or two every day.
8.Asking questions is good, but only ask when Bing doesn't answer it. (Sorry, Google. I'm loyal to my company!)
9. When you run out of ideas, you have to think up of some idea anyway.
10. Creativity is a gift. Not everyone has it. I don't know the work-around for this, sadly.

Yep, all of these have been said already, but hello, this is my blog. :)

So, with one week of internship left and a slew of presentations and interviews pending, I'm going to be busier than ever! Let's see how it will feel to go back to college after seeing the world!

So long!

Two month 'FB deactivation' anniversary!

I did it! I went without the social networking giant for two solid months. Let me give you a quick recount of how it was without Facebook for two months:

Three days in : Feels like the effort to stay off Fb is too high. Almost like social suicide. Trying to make up for it by concentrating on my blog and using Google Plus. I'm just one login away from FB and that makes things worse.

A week later: Mistakenly opened the website many times, forgetting that I was no longer part of it.

Two weeks in: Urge to visit FB has lessened. Exams, other websites and music have covered for it! Great timing.

A month later: Almost forgot about it! Some people were shocked that I deactivated it without any 'announcement'. Exams in full swing, so I couldn't care less.

After a month and a half: Holidays went by with films and books, though I occasionally thought about FB and how it might have changed.

Current position: There are a few groups that I have missed out on. People asking me whether I checked their FB pics and some of them are tempting me to re-activate it again! I might actually do that, but still postponing it.

Edit: 4-6-12 marks my re-entry into Facebook. Well played, Mark Zuckerberg.

The first week at Microsoft.

I was selected to intern with Microsoft for two months, along with roughly eighty other students from all over India. After slowly trudging through the rest of my semester, the D-day finally arrived!

It was with mounting nervousness that I walked through one of the numerous gates. My father who came along with me and my friend from college (who was also selected to intern with me) were the only people whom I knew, in the sea of new faces. We were asked to verify ourselves and directed to another building. After saying an excited-yet-tensed goodbye to my father, my friend and I took a shuttle bus to our building. We'd always complained back in college that we needed buses within the campus. Now, first wish granted. :)

My qualifications? PhD in dogology.

Hello folks! It's been a while. This is going to be an informative, but interesting, post. Quite a long-winded one! The fact that I'm writing this post while my exams are in full swing speaks volumes. No, don't worry, I'm studying and my grades will be good, rest assured!

Dog - a man's best friend, companion, blah, blah, blah. You know all the regular stuff and you could write an essay on them. I have been a dog-lover since about a year or so, and always have been yearning to have a pet. Well, I need to spend time, and money. Most importantly, my own money. So, I decided to keep researching about various breeds and dogs in general until I begin to get fat pay checks (bah! I may not have enough time then). Here's the breed I chose finally. :-)

If you thought silence was peace, think again.

Imagine a place so quiet that you can't even imagine it. Welcome to the anechoic chamber in Orfield Laboratories, Minnesota.

Happy birthday, Ma! :)

Dear Mum,

First off, I hope you realize I woke up a little early to write this. Now that you've appreciated it, a VERY BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!

My first poem - Hope, a bliss!

I wrote this poem around five years back, but I like it. Here it goes. :)

The lanky boy working in the fields
Was the first to notice it.
Leaping up from his work,
He shouted, “The rain – it is here!”

I tried to make me go to rehab..

..And duh, I said yes. Amy Winehouse, you can literally rest in peace - this isn't your addiction I'm talking about.

In fact, it's worse - I'm talking about a rehab for Facebook addicts. Seems to pale in comparison to others, but trust me, this is one business that can make millions in the long run.

A typical day for people (like me) starts off by logging in to their FB account. Oooh, 3 notifications.
